Instructions

  • Whisk together eggs, heavy cream, vanilla, and salt in a shallow dish. Soak bread slices in the mixture for 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook soaked bread for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Before serving, sprinkle each slice with a mixture of granulated and brown sugar. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden and crispy, or place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, watching carefully.

Notes

  • For best results, use day-old bread as it absorbs the custard better
