Ingredients
  

Cake Layers
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix prepared according to package instructions
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix prepared according to package instructions
Ice Cream Layers
  • 2 pints chocolate ice cream softened
  • 2 pints vanilla ice cream softened
Toppings
  • 1 cup whipped cream for topping
  • 1/2 cup chocolate sauce for drizzling
  • 1/4 cup chocolate shavings for garnish

Method
 

Prepare Cake Layers
  1. Bake the chocolate and vanilla cake mixes according to package instructions. Allow them to cool completely.
Assemble Ice Cream Cake
  1. Once the cakes are cooled, slice each cake in half horizontally to create layers.
  2. Place one layer of chocolate cake in the bottom of the 9-inch round cake pan.
  3. Spread a layer of softened chocolate ice cream over the cake layer.
  4. Add a layer of vanilla cake on top of the chocolate ice cream, followed by a layer of softened vanilla ice cream.
  5. Top with another layer of chocolate cake, followed by the remaining chocolate ice cream.
  6. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 2 hours or until firm.
Final Touches
  1. Once frozen, remove the cake from the pan and place it on a serving plate.
  2. Spread whipped cream over the top and sides of the cake.
  3. Drizzle with chocolate sauce and sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
  4. Slice and serve immediately.
